idev247,
Great to hear from you! It currently is not possible to hide the Songza tab. There are some technical aspects that require work to get all the other players hide the tab like Pandora. We are considering spending the man power and resources to make it work, which is in the queue with other developments that we are working on currently. Especially, since this feature seems to be popular lately and, as such, is moving up our priority list.
Two quick questions for you idev247,
Thanks for your input.

What about a hidden tab do you like? (less distractions?)
Mainly because when I'm done browsing/researching I either bookmark all my tabs into a folder for later reference, add to Pocket or close them.
I like to keep my desktop clutter-free by closing or minimizing non-actively used windows. When I'm listening to music I can't close all my tabs. Minimizing doesn't work either because when I click on the chrome icon in the dock or use spotlight to reopen chrome the window I minimized just pops back up instead of opening a new window. More of an annoyance than anything else.
Something to note is that on Mac you can close all windows without closing chrome. As an example, when using Pandora with SoundControl, I can close all the windows (without quitting chrome) and the music continues playing.
If we could develop one new feature to make your music listening experience better in the web browser, what would it be?
A while back a Mac app appeared on GitHub. It was only there for a couple of days before they decided to remove it. I don't completely remember the name or the features but I think the concept was similar to SoundControl. Of what I remember:
I've also been using Streamus which I like but it doesn't integrate with Songza. For other music services I've been using BeardedSpice to be able to control music using the media keys.
The reason I wanted to use SoundControl was to be able to hide the tab. I've already got media key control with BeardedSpice.
Have you considered adding anonymous stats to the extension? That way you could see why people are using your current extension. For privacy you could add the option to enable/disable in the chrome's option page.
idev247,
I am personally primarily a Windows user but people on our development/design team are Mac first (and probably know about this feature on Mac, they are smarter than me), but I did not know personally that you can close all the windows on a Chrome for Mac and the music continues to play. I too hate clutter on my desktop and when I see people with 20 tabs open, it makes me cringe.
In regards to your wish list, it sounds to me like incorporating playlist creation and control into SoundControl would be of great benefit to you. The media keys sound like a nice benefit you like, but a benefit that is not unique to us due to many other services out there have this feature (good to know). Finally, we have considered adding anonymous stats to the extension; however, we are trying to stick to our principles, so it isn't something we want to do haphazardly. With privacy concerns, we want to make sure we have a concrete plan to give our customers value before collecting and processing their data - for example, by giving them their play history in a customer account, etc. We see data a digital currency and we want to give our customers direct value in exchange. Giving them the option to enable/disable this option is a great suggestion for this transition.
Thanks for all your good advice. Feel free to keep this conversation going whenever you would like with us on Twitter (if you use it) or if any new ideas pop into your head. We get our Twitter DM's and #SndHelp hashtags with mentions sent to all our phones so we can get them even when we are away from our workstations.
Thanks again and I'll bring up your suggestions at our next development meeting.

- Allow to stream music from multiple services: YouTube, GrooveShark...
- Allow to create playlists of songs from different services
- Allow to import and exports playlists
- Allow to use media keys (keyboard's play, forward, backwards buttons) to control music
I've also been using Streamus which I like but it doesn't integrate with Songza. For other music services I've been using BeardedSpice http://beardedspice.com/ to be able to control music using the media keys.
