Consider how live coding could be used within first practical episodes

Following an introductory lecture to MPI (see #46), consider ways to reformat the first session (or two) into a live coding format, for the initial practical content (in the first one or two episodes). Perhaps have short intro slides to cover any conceptual content (e.g. for Communication Data episode, which is concept-heavy). Following this live coding part, the remainder of the material reverts to a guided self-learning mode of delivery.

One way to do it, following a discussion with Ed:

• Deliver episodes one and two as an introductory lecture (with the initial practical bits in episode 2 summarised)
• Pivot to live coding and go through the initial practical bits in episode 2 with attendees
• Lecture introduction to episode 3 which introduces MPI communication (it's concept heavy, so a lecture intro probably best)
• Pivot back to live coding for episode 4 (up until the first or second exercise at the end)
• Introduce and move to guided self-learning for attendees for the remaining exercises and the rest of the materials
