Don't let april fools jokes affect accessibility. #401

the problem: Look, you got me for a second mkay? Thought I'd have to delete ~/.config/webcord/windowstate for the 40th time until I actually read the fake error. But not everyone is gonna recognize this joke for what it is. I set up a PC for a very tech illiterate friend of mine and went with this client to avoid the whole screensharing issue on the official client. They're gonna have no idea what any of this means.

the solution: Simply remove the fake error on launch, maybe replace it with something more subtle.

alternatives: Maybe put MoneroMiner or something in the window title without interrupting startup.

Actually one idea came to me today to make Abort, abort! unclickable, suggesting that the 2nd option has to be clicked. Maybe close also should then do nothing?

That being said, any improvements will probably happen for next year, who knows if then there will be another easter-egg / joke instead? But thanks for your effort on making this issue ticket anyway.

WebCord won't open for me anymore and I can't tell whether it is this error causing it or something else, so I agree this joke is confusing (and removing windowstate like usual didn't fix it).

Yeah, I appreciate the joke but until some of the bugs are fixed with webcord i don't think it is appropriate. I know its only one day of the year but still, it very well be some users breaking point.

Got a giggle, definitely bad format for most users though

To be honest, I've actually forgot this was still in WebCord's code and I was reminded about that yesterday. And this kind of easter-egg was there for quite a long time and was implemented before I refactored the configuration.

I had the same exact issue, once you press the abort button or the cancel button, there is simply three WebCord processes idling in the background, and there is no way to access the application itself, overall failing to start up.

It would have been a decent joke, if firstly it was still during the 1st of April and secondly if it provided its main functionality...

I decided to switch from Windows to Linux yesterday so I have very little experience with the OS I'm using and this annoyed me so much because I thought it was an issue with the OS, can we just agree that fake error messages aren't the peek of comedy now and just stop, it's not April Fools anymore.

SpacingBat3 commented 1 year ago

Closing this issue ticket as it isn't relevant anymore (I might remove this joke before next April Fools).

It's not a fake error message, as previously mentioned, WebCord will get stuck on idling when I try to execute it, and after a while the process will terminate, as stated above by sudoer777, removing WindowState does not fix the issue, this has been occurring since yesterday, and yet to be fixed today.

Your operating system is unrelated to the software being broken on my side, and I apologize if I did not make my message clear enough.

The issue is related to the developers creating a joke that instead of it being a joke, broke the functionality of the software, this may not be the case for you, but it is for me.
