It's unclear whether this module is still under active development. There seem to be numerous unresolved issues and untouched pull requests. The last commit was over a year ago.
It would be a great shame if development has ceased. The module seems to be quite unique in the space of email markup. Unfortunately, though, in the absence of the reliability of active development here, developers will likely need to use an alternative, less desirable module.
