A workaround is to select the location bar, which of course can be achieved quickly with Ctrl+L. Having discovered this workaround, it's no longer a show-stopper for me, but I'd still appreciate a fix.
I am assuming you have configured the status text to be displayed in the location bar. Turn off S4E Preferences -> Status -> Status Text -> [] Show default status
This is no longer an issue in Firefox 29+ as the star has been moved out of the location bar.
S4E causes the star in the location bar to disappear. I find it useful to know at a glance whether I have the current page bookmarked, so I'd like it back.
I wouldn't mind if it only showed when the page actually is bookmarked, because that would give me the same indication yet would save a bit more space for the status when it isn't bookmarked.
