DXVK and SpecialK local install not working #119

hi, i am trying to get SpecialK to work with DXVK through local install, so i don't have to use the SpecialK launcher everytime i want to launch the game.

the game is GTA4 Complete edition. the reason i use specialK is because it helps alleviate the frame spikes that affect NVIDIA cards when trying to use DXVK.

although i can get everything working when i use the SpecialK launcher, no matter what i try to get a local SpecialK install working results in either the game failing to launch or SpecialK or DXVK not injecting properly.

i have tried manual renaming the SpecialK32.dll to different variations mentioned on Ultimate ASI Loader (https://github.com/ThirteenAG/Ultimate-ASI-Loader/releases) and using the in-game GUI to install as mentioned here https://wiki.special-k.info/en/SpecialK/Local#convert-from-a-global-install

is there any solution that someone can recommend?

edit: yes, i have enabled vulkan bridge (hence it working when using the launcher, and even copied the working ini to local folder, but still fails)

Right click the game in SKIF and select Manage > Create Shortcut and then use that one to launch the game.

i was on website version (23.9) so this option wasn't available. i switched to discord version (23.11) which has this option

problems:

  1. would not launch from shortcut solution: had to launch from SpecialK launcher, which asked to enable Vulkan Bridge again (so it had to remake config) game will now launch from shortcut

  2. commandline.txt commands don't work solution: have to edit shortcut's "Launch In" to game's install folder or manually add commands to shortcut

although not proper solution for my problem, it alleviates having to launch through SpecialK's launcher.
