After entering the full data from a source, searching is very easy, but before that data is entered, full-text searching of the pdf texts would be a great convenience. This way, even if the import of the source data is not complete, the sources (of course, only those that have native or recognized text) would be searchable for nomenclatural units, but not only that - often taxonomists remember "this author had written something about a certain genus" or "somewhere in the literature I have encountered this plant as a food plant for this species".
There is a similar feature in Mendeley and it is very effective.
