Fixes a set of bugs that address #53, #55, #56, and #57 . Needs testing against those issues.

Ok, downloaded the new index.js (and replaced my local modified one completely) and was able to start without any problems. Simply tried a couple of things, and didn't noticed any problems within 5 minutes so far.... ;-)
