If there is fuel and die then the object remains in the hand, but also falls at the point of death, you can pick up and use in the future I think the author was up to the usual preservation of the subject in hand, alone and it's manifested in death, the fuel remains in the hand

I don't understand what fuel is andwhat the object is. What mod does the object come from? Can you explain like I'm a complete novice to the mod in how it works to reproduce the issue?

ExtraBotany this addon for Botania Item - NightMare Fuel when you eat NightMare Fuel you died and NighMare Fuel drop from you and save in hand. The item should only fall out or only stay in the hand. item id - extrabotany:nightmarefuel
