When I start a backup I get a "Application SMS Backup (process
tv.studer.smssync) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again."

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Entered valid credentials in the settings
2. Started the backup (this was an initial backup)
3. It states that it is logging in

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

I would have expected that it back up messages.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

Running on 1.1.0 on HTC Dream with Android 1.5

I can create a debug backtrace if you wish but I'm unsure of how to do
that. If you could direct me at instructions to do that I will be happy to
do such.

Thanks for your report. Please install "Log Collector" from the Android Market:
http://www.cyrket.com/package/com.twofortyfouram.logcollector

Run SMS Backup until it force closes, then start Log Collector and send the log
file to me. Make sure you look
through the log file for private information and remove it before sending it to
me. Thanks!

Here is the log file. If there is anything in there that I missed please remove
it. I
think it is both devoid of any personal information and useful enough that it
should
give you a handle on the problem. If you need any more information please post
the
request to this thread I'm watching it.

Thanks, the log file contains all I need. Looks like a bug in the back-end
which comes
from the Android/k9mail team. I have to see how much I can do myself.

I have the same problem, but it happens in after like few days/weeks of using
it. Do
you want me to send you the log, too?

Has there been any progress on this? Could you tell me where to post a bug
report to
the Android/k9mail team and what information to include in it?

I've been having the same problem...mine is with the app "'SMS Backup." In
fact, the developer sent me
to this blog and said to star it as he doesn't have enough time to solve my
problem.

Has anybody figured out how to fix this yet?

I am getting this too on Nexus One. On first back up it backs up about 9 sms
then
force closes with the (process tv.studer.smssync) message. After that it wont
back up
any more and just gives the FC.

Go to your Gmail Settings ~ then to Labels ~ scroll down to your SMS folder and
make
sure "Show Imap" is checked. As soon as Imap is checked ~ you're good to go &
no more
problems!

Yes it helps, my messages are backuping!

Program could suggest checking this option.

Had the same problem with HTC Desire. Had to rename my label from sms to SMS.
That
fixed it for me!
