Bugs in today's release? #43

Experiencing a few bugs with todays release, tested with 12.3 pre alpha ("SPMC") on Ouya and the October monthly nightly Gotham on OS X

Installation issue: On both platforms XBMC froze when enabling the skin upon install (both when trying to upgrade while having it as the active skin and when I had previously switched to another skin and uninstalled Immersive)

Home fanart: Is displayed (what I assume is) properly at first when entering or leaving the home section and then an overlay with the wallpaper is displayed which makes the fanart so dark it can only be seen if sort of squinting. When enabling a wallpaper that contains larger coloured areas (with the default blue color option) the wallpaper can be seen (although blueish) through these areas. Tried with all wallpapers available as well as both enabled and disabled Use color diffuse and Use theme color. c360_2013-11-05-19-03-51-062

Not sure what is causing the freeze. I could try magically divining a cause; or, a debug log would make things a whole lot easier.

I'll have to increase the transparency of the darkened overlay for the wallpaper.

It's good to get these reports from Gotham users but until I begin updating I wouldn't expect a fix unless it's also something that affects Frodo users as well or the fix won't cause more issues.

Couldn't reproduce on Gotham. The overlay issue is still present though. Should I close this issue and start a separate one for that?

The overlay is going to be dark - it's supposed to be in order for the rest of the interface to be readable. Unfortunately an issue can occur when the fanart behind it is dark as well. With lighter fan art or fan art with a lot of colour, it's fine by my eyes.

You can an example of what it looks like with a brighter fan art here: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/3687220/Immersive/screenshot066.png

If you're still having trouble seeing the fanart in that screenshot you may want to consider re-calibrating the brightness / contrast controls on you TV if you haven't already.

If, on the other hand, you're trying to get rid of the blue 'Personalize' overlay, you should select the blank option on the Personalize > Background menu. This will give you a screen that looks like the above screenshot.

Oh seems to be a case of difference in taste rather than a bug, will play around with the skin and see if I find something that I prefer. If so, I might end up adding it as a setting and making a pull. Closing this until further.

(Agree that some dimming is needed though, I hade gotten my fanart to the point where it displayed but no dimming and the skin would end up quite illegible)
