Information from meeting with Sam:

• Origin are a zero-waste company – any waste is sent to be incinerated, emissions from this are then used to repower the incinerator.
• Paper usage has been reduced y about 60%, however the paper that Is now used is also carbon neutral.
• Wanting to look at the life cycle perspective e.g. where we get our aluminium from, it is then going to be sent back there to be recycled.
• We want to lead with how Origin care as a company.
• Integrating this message into product inf to avoid using jargon and therefore being able to reach and communicate with our customers.
• Aluminium over plastic – Lasts 10 years longer and can be fully recycled when finished.
• Transport plan their routes to be environmentally friendly – Speak with Bob.
• UPS – looking to offset ass courier emissions (more info coming 08/11)

Environmental benefits

1. Insulation – aluminium bifolds with thermal break – good content
2. Double or triple glazing – origin have great u value
3. Don’t move improve – bifolds are a great way to get more out of your home
4. Aluminium is far more durable than upvc 10 years vs 20 years
5. Frames are recyclable so even after use they can be melted down and recycled.
6. Allow more natural lighting, allowing you to cut down on your energy bills

Next Steps: Seeing what customers are looking for online. Checking in with Bob for some information on travel and the environment. Having a look around the environmental teams section and gathering some more information from in there.
