6545 sheath gas heater or temperature sensor not working #28

Closed curt-f closed 5 years ago

curt-f commented 5 years ago

The 6545 ion source seems to be broken. The sheath gas heater is not working; we are not sure if is the sheath gas heater itself or the sheath gas temperature sensor.

The instrument can be run, but the sheath gas temperature in your method needs to be set to the current temperature of the sheath gas (as of a few minutes ago, 35 °C) for the instrument to turn from “Not Ready” (yellow) to “Ready” (green).

This will likely degrade sensitivity but by an unknown amount.

I'll need to contact Agilent to resolve this issue.

  1. I tried to contact Agilent about this issue on Friday.
  2. They said that our service contract on the qTOF had not been renewed.
  3. But in early April, I submitted a PO to renew our service contract. In needed to be approved by 9 different approvers at Stanford.
  4. It was approved, but only in the last week of April. The Stanford PO number is 62089607.
  5. Mysteriously, Agilent claims they have not received our purchase order and that our instrument is not covered.
  6. I continue to work with Agilent and Stanford administration to resolve the issue. It needs to be resolved before Agilent will send engineers to repair our broken instrument.
