Sometimes, prior to entering a chatroom with other users, I would like the users (MTurkers) to be able to enter a room by themselves to read some pre-chat materials. The amount of time that the users stay in the chatroom should be pre-set, and the amount of time remaining in the chatroom should be displayed to the user.
There may be more than one pre-chat "reading period" prior to a chat.
List of all features required:
In specifying a template, the experimenter (me) should be able to insert a "reading period" that users (MTurkers) experience prior to entering a chatroom.
While in the chatroom, the user should see a "helperBot," which explains the purpose of the chatroom and presents a reading task to them (i.e., a PDF).
In the template, the experiment should be able to specify what the helperBot says and the material for the user to read.
The user should be able to see a countdown timer in the room, specifying how much time they have remaining.
The user should receive native browser notifications 30 seconds before the timer runs down, and again when the timer reaches 0. These notifications should remind the user to return to the screen to get ready for the next task.
There should be the ability to insert multiple reading pre-tasks prior to a chatroom task.
