USB keyboard / mouse don't work after boot into big mac installer #132

I have almost the identical set up to your Mac Pro. I only have 32BG of memory but its a Mac 3,1 with the same flashed video card. I'm running Catalina just fine on it - everything works. I removed my BT card for the install. When I boot into your installer latest installer, I cannot get my wired USB keyboard and mouse to work so cannot select anything from this screen. I have the same issue with the BenSova patcher so its not unique to your code. Booting back to Catalina and everything works fine.

a) Try OCLP, Open Core Legacy Patcher's boot loader, and then boot BigMac2 / BaseSystem from it. BigMac does not patch the base system that it uses or Apple's installer discs, but OCLP's USB kext's can be injected using OCLP without detection.

b) I use Apple Magic 2 USB2 keyboards and trackpads with BigMac2. You can also try using a bus powered USB 2.0 hub or USB 3.0 PCIe card and plug your devices into that. That later is required on Monterey, btw even with Apple keyboards and mice.

c) I don't use PC keyboards or mice, except for my MAME system which using XArcade USB 1.x devices for its joysticks, buttons, spinner, trackball and LED lights. Many third party input devices don't like the base system.

d) Since your video card is flashed, you can try booting into single using mode, cmd-S at start up and USB 1.1 devices should work. Hold it down until you see a prompt #. press return, then type exit and press return.

I had this problem, and Single User mode was the key. I just needed to check that box in the Bigmac2 app when writing to the install disk, then boot from there into the install disk.
