Big Sur camera/microphone permissions on MacPro 5,1 #142

BigMac2 is awesome and I have been reliably running 11.2.3 using the app. One issue I have run into that I'd be curious to get guidance on. In the Security & Privacy control panel apps do not appear to be registering properly for access to the camera or microphone.

I've checked and the Photo Booth app, Siri and others can see the microphone without issue so it's not a device driver issue.

Any thoughts on fixes? Any ktexts that should be applied?

I recently got a Mac Pro 4,1 upgraded to a 5,1. I do not have Big Sur 11.2.3 on it yet, but when I do, I will check out this issue. I recall those two areas being a problem in the past and unfortunately they do not allow dragging and dropping the app into those areas.

Which audio apps are you having a problem with?

One thing you can try in the mean time is get Open Core Legacy Patcher and install it to an external USB drive, so you don't have to commit to using it. And see if that allows access. OCLP will try to install what patches it thinks it needs for 5,1 on a separate EFI partition. It can patch system on the fly. If it does not help, remove the OCLP USB Drive, reboot to the BigMac installer disk and run the pre-install stuff but do not reinstall. that will recent the NVRAM settings back to what Bigmac is used to using.

I plan to eventually incorporate OCLP with BM2; haven't spent enough time this yet and still consider it experimental.

It seems to be having issues with Zoom and WebEx. I downloaded OpenCore Legacy Patcher and ran the "Patch System Volume" tool but it just returns the following.

Loading...
- Rerouting payloads location
- Set System Volume patching
- Starting Patch Process
- Determinging Required Patch set for Darwin 20
The following patches will be applied:
- No Root Patches required for your machine!
- Returning to main menu
Done! Operation completed successfully.

But does not allow the exposure of the camera or audio permissions by either apps.

You need to install OCLP and it will put itself on a EFI partition that contains the Open Core bootloader. Check the OCLP docs or use its GUI setup application which may be easier to use. OCLP contains two apps. One is command line based, the other is GUI based.

I had it, when sip was disabled.. No notifications. So. recovery mode. crstutil enable. Reboot and check all programs. Robot to recovery mode csrutil disable reboot and that is it
