I've always wished that hats did more than decorate your head.
I am currently working on a mod to make hats have buffs and special effects. Any ideas would be appreciated. 😄

Originally, I intended to leave DomSim to work on this- but then I saw his version was likely abandoned, as it has been several months since he posted about it. As such, I took it upon myself to fill the void, and make a mod for this idea. https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/7096
Idea to add statistics to wearable hats like permanent skill upgrades such as +1 fishing, or to add small defense or skill modifiers to hats, such as +10 stamina and health.
It will keep the game interesting as long as the modifiers are reasonable, and will give the player an additional reason to buy hats or even wear them.
Alternatively use the crafting menu to upgrade boots with materials.
Upgrade boots crafting recipes, each adding +1 def each
Boots(any) + Copper bar = Heavy (Boot Name) ex: _Heavy Space Boots_with an additional +1 defense added
Boots(any) + Iron bar = Reinforced (Boot Name) ex: _Reinforced Space Boots_with an additional +2 defense added
Boots(any) + Gold bar = Tempered (Boot Name) ex: _Tempered Space Boots_with an additional +3 defense added
Boots(any) + Iridium bar = Powerful(Boot Name) ex: _Powerful Space Boots_with an additional +4 defense added
Boots(any) + Prismatic Shard = add something special, like +10 health
Beyond that, it may be possible to simply add combat and statistic upgrades to the newly create-able hats in Emily's house.
