[bug]: Specter throwing 502 Error #47

Open tinysound464 opened 1 year ago

tinysound464 commented 1 year ago

Prerequisites

Device

Laptop/Desktop

Device OS

MacOS

Device OS Version

12.6.1

Browser

Firefox

Browser Version

108.0.1 (64-bit)

Current Behavior

Clean install of Specter service on Embassy Pro running 0.3.3 (92cd85b2043bde1e91cdb3caa4becc2ebcc44009), let it sit for approximately 48 hours. Went to load the Specter page and received a 502 error. It is noteworthy that right before receiving the 502, I got an invalid cert error which reported the cert as invalid. Once I hard refreshed the page (to try to reload the cert and the page and clear the aforementioned error) I received the 502 for the first time.

After refreshing unsuccessfully several times, including in a new private browser window to rule out possible local browser issues, the page suddenly loaded normally. The service wasn't restarted or anything like that and no other action was taken to resolve the issue. It seems to have randomly corrected itself on my Embassy Pro.

It is further noteworthy that I am also receiving a Specter 502 on my Embassy One which wasn't a clean install but had been working without issue for months (since beta at least).

There have also been additional reports of this in the DIY channel on Telegram.

This appears to be intermittent at best or fatal to the service at worst. Ping me if you need additional information to what I have provided.

Expected Behavior

Identify the reason for the 502 and prevent it from happening.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Install Specter service.
  2. Wait
  3. See 502 when loading the Specter Service

Anything else?

Love you guys and your vision!

Thanks for detailing this out.

On the box that is currently still not working - does it fail over Tor too or just LAN?

tinysound464 commented 1 year ago

Unable to connect over tor, but no 502 error. Over .local, I get the 502.

Are any other Tor services UIs working?
