BUG: Kubeflow Error adding contributors to namespace #909

Describe the bug I have a problem with adding contributors to a namespace. I would like to add the user: simardeep.singh@cloud.statcan.ca to the namespaces aaw-sedar, and aaw-pssd. I'm listed as owner of both. If I try to add them I receive this error message: "An error occured while trying to add the email. Please make check the email format and make sure there are no duplicates in this namespace. " but if I try to add him to my personal namespace andres-solismontero I get no error. Any ideas ? Thanks

Environment info Namespace: aaw-sedar, aaw-pssd Notebook/server: Kubeflow / Manage Contributors page

To Reproduce Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Go to 'Manage Contributors'
  2. Scroll down to namespace aaw-sedar/aaw-pssd
  3. Type email: simardeep.singh@cloud.statcan.ca
  4. See error "An error occured while trying to add the email. Please make check the email format and make sure there are no duplicates in this namespace. "

Expected behaviour Email simardeep.singh@cloud.statcan.ca added to the contributors of the namespace.

@asolis in our Slack thread you originally mentioned Simardeep's statcan.gc.ca address. Have you tried with both and getting the same behaviour?

Looking at aaw-sedar and aaw-pssd profiles, the owners are set to "shirin.roshanafshar@cloud.statcan.ca".

This is why you are not able to add new contributors to these project, as the owner is the only one able to do so.

Correct, I tried first with his statcan.gc.ca account, then his cloud account. Same behavior. Same error and message.

Shirin Roshanafshar (chief) was also listed as owner of the namespace and she was able to add simardeep cloud account. That might be why he is currently listed .

I get the same error but it tells me I’m an owner of the namespace.
