In my view, this is a standard telecom maintenance and deployment term and has no special meaning in the context of edge computing. I would suggest we do not add this term to the glossary as it should be reserved for terms which have unique meaning in the edge computing context.
I'm conflicted. On the one hand I like having a set of tough filters that keep the glossary from being unmanageable; on the other hand, people in the edge domain may not understand the word and there is an important concept to get across, which is that the highly-distributed nature of edge puts new constraints on how maintenance is performed and I don't love the idea of pushing people to external sources when we can help them in situ. Maybe we define truck roll but we put it very squarely in the context of edge. Thoughts?
I understand and appreciate your point, but I still think this term is without an edge-specific meaning though you are correct that edge does impose new challenges in regards to maintenance. I would say there are other terms that people may not understand, such as power budget, that could go in the same category; but if you want to include it, I'll add it.
I'll close this for now, can be reopened if there are strong feelings about it.
This came up in the L8ist Sh9y State of the Edge Report Review podcast. [Rob Hirschfeld](Rob Hirschfeld) felt the need to define it, which suggests it is relevant and could be a useful entry.
