B2B API access for evcc.io #130

Open andig opened 7 months ago

Hello Stellantis, similar to https://github.com/Stellantis/stellantis.github.io/issues/128, I'm developer of the evcc.io home energy management system. I have already applied to API access twice, but not received an answer. Kindly advise how to proceed. Our privacy policy is at https://evcc.io/datenschutz/.

Hello Stellantis,

I am engineer in a big technical company in Germany which is acting world wide. Whenever we see measures for improvements, our managment request us to present them.

It is true, I am not an employee of Stellantis, but if I were, I would recommend the following tasks, because they have economical effect for Stellantis:

  1. Open the API for third party developers. This would increase the reputation and make Stellantis cars more attractive for nature-conscious customers who want to use photovoltaics with energy management systems to charge their cars in an optimal way

  2. Due to (all/most?) Stellantis cars do not support loading until a certain state of charge (e.g. 80%) to increase the lifespan of the battery, the customers have bad control to prevent charging up to 100% and so it will happen very often. This is a warranty related issue for Stellantis and may increase the battery issues within the 8 years warranty. EVCC offers the possibility to limit the state of charge which has positive influence of premature wear of the battery.

  3. The battery is the most important part of an electric vehicle and decides, which value the car will have after a few years of use. All meassures should be taken, to expand the lifetime of this part, because for an 8 years old car, it can mean an economical total damage, if the battery has lost to much performance or is even unusable, because of the high costs for a change of battery.

The community would be very delighted, if Stellantis would pay attention to these points.

Update: no response whatsoever from Stellantis... Maybe @adrienlauer or @etiennerobaglia can have developer support look at the open request?

It should be noted that evcc merely needs access to read the SoC in order to provide this functionality, nothing else.

Lack of security or privacy cannot be a valid argument: A Corsa-e we leased years ago still appears in our profile with all(!) data visible to us, despite it being driven by someone else now and us trying to delete it several times. This is a way bigger privacy concern.

evcc is being hosted by each user individually, giving them full control over how their data is being used. But as Hogend1 mentioned previously, it is essential to have access to at least this one value to provide customers with this bare minimum of functionality that is a given in basically any other manufacturer's EV.

So we either require API access to let evcc do this and not have to wake up in the middle of the night to unplug the car, or Stellantis finally comes up with a usable app which lets users set this limit (among all other issues which deem that piece of software unusable presently). The first option is most likely the far cheaper one.

Without access to SoC data I am unable to stop the charge at 80% , so my Citroen now always charges to 100% Good thing I have a very long warranty, HV battery will eventually be replaced by Stellantis under warranty because of this... Such mismanagement is unacceptable from a business point of view. Question about pending financial hit must be raised during next Stellantis (STLA) investor meeting.

I can't imagine buying another vehicle from the Stellantis Group if the user isn't even given access to the API to read out the SoC.

Right now I am looking for an additional BEV. Stellantis brands are offering nice cars, but without supporting such excellent 3rd party tools like evcc.io, these vehicles are out of scope for me. And to be honest, the native Apps are horrible, at least the Opel Android App.

Stellantis, please get active here! Use the power of the open source community.

Our Opel Corsa will also go back after leasing time. We will try BYD, it couldn't be more worse than that here.

atze09 commented 6 months ago

I fully agree to alle the comments. Stellantis please pay attention to this topic, otherwise you will loose market share and damage your reputation. For example EVCC is a great tool to solve a problem ( charging to 80%) where stock app is not able to do so. It is a shame for such a big company, think about it.

I am also complaining about these issues and Stellantis promised to answer. But so far no answer. Again a disaster for such a big company. Delivering applications without functions which are needed to fulfill manufacturer requirements is against customer satisfaction and gives me the feeling that this company is not taking care about their customers.

Same here: We will not longer use a PSA car after the rent-time is over.

ThoHilde commented 6 months ago

Unbelievable how STELLANTIS thinks this is acceptable. First the app could not connect to my car and I had to use 3rd party apps to reliable get the information and start preconditioning, now they deny most of 3rd party apps and I have to use the non-functioning app again. Last car from STELLANTIS for me and my company.

Owning an Opel Corsa.

For me, open standard APIs and interoperability with open source software are a key feature for buying any long lasting product like a car or any other product that integrates into a smart home environment.

Next car won't be a STELLANTIS one if your policy won't change
