[SUGGESTION] : <Horatio Civic> #59

Inspired by our talk on discord, the idea is for a civic or origin for normal empires that is effectively their equivalent of driven assimaltors, or the opposite of xenocompatability. Effectively the empire turns pops of other races into their main species.

Inspired by the Horatio of Endless Space

Ahh yes. Thank you so much for posting this suggestion!

It's worth noting that the Horatio in ES2 aren't xenophobic, but rather egotistical; everyone has value, but we want their value, because we deserve it, because we're the best long-headed boys. As such, a direct opposite to Xenocompatability isn't exactly accurate.

I guess that would depend on where you want to draw the line between staying true to the inspiration and the mechanical satisfaction of having an antixenocompatability tho.

I am 100% for Stellaris Horatio. Horatio are my favorite ES2 faction.

How about the Civic disables Gene modding and Gene/synth Ascensions, enables assimilation of other species, and gives a small chance on assimilating a Pop to add a random positive trait to your main species.

Edit: trait from the pop, and can't be duplicate.

weirfish commented 4 years ago

That could definitely work, yeah. Chance to assimilate a trait decreases with number of trait points on the main species, number of pops required for assimilation to proc increases accordingly?
