Okay I have read through several posts and I am ot sure what I am doing wrong. We set up my sons new phone last night and everything is uploading fine until this morning when he was off the home wifi and went to school. How do I need to configure the settings to use the phone's data plan when he is away from a wifi connection? I think his phone tries to connect to the schools wifi but it doesn't need to because he has a phone plan! Help please #193

The phone should switch automatically but if not, have you tried just turning off the wifi?

Depending on your Android version and phone model... on your home screen, pull down your phone's settings menu (where you have options to turn on/off BT, WIFI, GPS, etc.) and make sure your data is enabled. Icon looks like your antenna signal strength (or a bar graph). I would also recommend turning off WIFI as a) it may cause interference and b) will drain the battery faster.

Try it at home before he goes to school. If it works at home, it will work anywhere with cell towers.
