I am exploring different OS's for research on a project as well as find them very exciting and interesting to learn about.
My current project will be using a new type of Hypervisor Micro-Kernel but I am also very interested in Minix 3 since I like the idea of a minimized kernel, reliability, protection domains, and the other features that currently used commodity OS's do not seem to have in place now.
The world is moving to 64-bit systems and slowly phasing out the older 32-bit systems which make me want to ask if Minux 3 has any plans to migrate to a 64-bit design or what it might take to do that?
I am sure that it is not an easy task, but I would be interested in trying to find out what might be required.
Thanks in advance.
