Prepping data models for content management #863

Chore

Describe the chore

It's the holidays, and there is a slight chance that I'm stagnating my overall progress on a quite circular project. Meanwhile, the tonnes of discovery done between learning React, Next, and Supabase all at once has opened a few more learning opportunities that will likely serve me very well, in comparison to pushing lots of small operational changes to the site.

I've got other projects that began life as sub-projects of this web-page and which I feel are well worth exploring - at this point, I know what I don't know; I have identified some knowledge gaps and understood them well enough to formulate the right questions.

I want to keep bringing my hard-earned experience to this project and using it as a vessel to demonstrate my learnings - as well as being a source for others on a similar path.

This demonstration is equal parts the content, and the site itself. In order to bring a few more skills forward, I want to cover a few of those newly-identified knowledge gaps, formulate the acquired knowledge into some blog posts (and possibly some repos for studying and sharing) and incorporate all of that into the working methods as well as the content demonstrated on my website.

The primary issue with continuing on with the site as the main priority is a lack of requirements for back-end tech. Some of these new projects will not only demonstrate (and strenghten) my knowledge and experience in the back end stack, but will also make greater utilization of integrations like supabase and SSR in doing so.

Bumping this entire project down one notch on the priority ladder for the holiday season, as of now.

Just checking in to refresh.

I think I made a good call, taking a timeout on this project for the holidays. The law of diminishing returns had me almost going backwards from over-working the material requirements.

I have some actual meaningful fixes to drop next; weird router behaviour, and some components to finish up. Quite a decent number of new GH projects to sync to 'projects'. I've also gotten quite far with compiling static resources to binary and serving via a node module or some other means. Furthermore, upskilled on CRUD and got some interesting data models that might lead to some fun new ideas.

Then there is the main attraction; setting up the RT-enabled interactive blog. That one is the longer-term goal of them all.

I am apprehensive about diving into this much further right now. I'm currently working on several differing projects that each lead back to this particular ticket - eventually.

It may be a while, though, before that work does lead back full circle to here.
