The faculty has finally been given the okay to upload revised syllabi for how we'll handle instruction during the COVID-19 pandemic. If you go to the syllabus folder, you can see a few new files:

In a nutshell:

  1. There will be no changes to how homework assignments or readings are distributed, collected, and graded.
  2. Instruction will be done remotely via Zoom at our regular meeting times, and recordings will be uploaded (there'll be a separate announcement once the first recording goes online). You should be able to join the Zoom session via this url: http://lin637.thomasgraf.net/zoom.
  3. Office hours will also be held remotely via Zoom, each Tuesday and Thursday for 90 minutes before the Zoom meetings (so T/R 1:00-2:30). The link is http://officehours.thomasgraf.net. Office hours won't be recorded.
  4. You are highly encouraged, but not required, to attend the Zoom sessions and Zoom office hours.
  5. There will be extra online assignments to ensure that you're still engaged, e.g. online discussion of a reading.
  6. Overall, there will be a greater emphasis on doing work on your own (in particular exercises), rather than in class. One Zoom session each week will be basically a Q&A.

If for some reason you are no longer able to participate in the class in your usual capacity (e.g. because you will soon loose internet access), let me know asap.
