[Raid] [Heart of Fear] Cleave effects inherit damage amplification from Weak Point on Garalon's Leg #1535

Description: On Garalon, the Weak Point aura added to players when within proximity of one of Garalon's Legs causes you to do twice as much damage to the legs as expected. However, cleave effects, such as Sweeping Strikes, Blade Flurry and Inferno Blast should not inherit this damage increase and instead cause the regular, unmodified damage. This was corrected by Blizzard in a hotfix from November 2012, and is mentioned several places. Here are some key examples:

Icy Veins 2013 Guide mentioning the applied fix: https://www.icy-veins.com/wow/garalon-strategy-guide-normal-heroic Original Blue Post: https://www.bluetracker.gg/wow/topic/us-en/7006896797-garalon-changes-raid-finder-normal-heroic/

As a 'compensation' from Blizzard, the encounter enrage timer in normal and heroic was also increased from six minutes to seven minutes. Stormforge already uses the seven minute enrage timer.

Current behaviour: Cleave effects such as a Warrior's Sweeping Strikes inherit damage amplification from Weak Point. For instance, a 200k Mortal Strike as a result of the damage amp increase causes Sweeping Strikes to hit for ~100k. However, the expected damage with correct behavior would instead be ~50k of the unmodified ~100k Mortal Strike.

Expected behaviour: Cleave effects should not inherit damage amplifications directly applied to units. Instead, they should only be modified by modifiers directly applied to the caster.

Some side notes from myself:

  1. Since I have not had the opportunity, I am unsure if this is more of a general issue regarding the behaviour of cleave effects and like the blue post mentions, the fix supposedly also applies to encounters like Mel'Jarak's Recklessness and the Dragon's Vengeance debuff on Halfus Wyrmbreaker, which is also why I am isolating the issue to Garalon at this current moment in time.
  2. If the other encounters behave correctly, it may be that the Weak Point debuff interacts differently, as it is applied to players and not on the legs themselves.
