Pedestrian ways (highway=pedestrian) are usually regular streets where vehicle traffic is no longer allowed (unless authorized) and adapted so that pedestrians can use it freely. If it was a regular street, then its width should be at least significantly wider than a footway or sidewalk.

So I suggest that pedestrian way width should be rendered like a residential way, at least 10 meters.
