Hi, the current rendering of sport fields looks already pretty awesome :)
Maxbe there is the posibility to also render leisure=track / pitch ways and closed ways that are dedicated to athletics? Tartan surface migth be a good guess for the surface, but you could also look for a dedicated surface tag.
This would show more interesting details in stadiums, school areas, ... .
