Eco 9.5.4 - Unable to place Table Lamps on Hewn Nightstand #23361

Steps to recreate:

I was originally trying to decorate a tier 4 (primarily composite lumber) home on a server with updated furniture but found that there were no Nightstands or End Tables available above the Hewn Level (something which I am going to put in as a feature request in a different area) and finding so decided to just go ahead and attempt to place the steel table lamps I had made for the bedroom on a nightstand and encountered the fact that I had zero ability to do so which made no sense to me as generally that is the kind of area that I have always found a table lamp in homes is on an end table or a nightstand beside a bed.

At Current I have only tested this with the Steel Table Lamp but will do so with a Wooden Table lamp as well soon as possible.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention and for your feedback! We will take your feature request very seriously.

About placing the table lamp on the nightstand, there is no such mechanic in the game yet. You can be sure that we will consider adding this in the future.

In the meantime, there is something I can recommend you to save the aesthetics of your home, but it has a downside.

  1. Place the lamp on a square block (e.g. hewn log)

  1. Remove the square block

  1. Place the nightstand under the lamp

And voilà ! Your Table Lamp has been succesfully placed on the Hewn Nightstand. The downside is that one of the requirements that the table lamp needs to work is "Placed on solid ground" and in this case this is not being recognized. As a result, the lamp will be placed on the nightstand but it will not illuminate properly. We are going to debate this feature with the team. When we have more updates on this we'll be sure to keep you updated.

I realize this is an old post, however the table lamp (as of Beta 9.7.7) does not play nice with any surface other than a solid block, which defeats the purpose of a table lamp.

In other words, neither a nightstand, nor a table, nor the now deleted small table are suitable locations for the table lamp, effectively rendering the entire object useless for decoration. This used to be possible as a game mechanic, hence I disagree with the current labels and would classify it as a bug instead

I would have to agree; this is not a feature but a bug as the lamp is labled as a table lamp and does not function as such
