Garbage is garbage, no issue with that.
However, sometimes you are forced to store old items (e.g. never used the machete) for ages unless you turn them into garbage.
Would be nice to have a recycling station where players could retrieve few materials, or even craft objects from other objects, maybe with a different visual aspect.
Currently we can only recycle roads If I am not mistaken.
In addition, it has a green / environmental friendly aspect for young players.
On the White Tiger server I've been doing a fair bit of garbage collection from abandoned properties. I have turned a lot of a lot of basic clothes, tents, tool workbenches, etc. into garbage manually by dropping them onto the floor. Perhaps it would be nice to have a kind of garbage bin that does this in a more automatic way.
The idea would be like this - people can put a garbage bin or dumpster near the road and toss any item in. It would turn into garbage within X hours. Anyone else would be able to open the bin and empty it. The bin itself would only hold something like 2-5 pieces of garbage total. This would create a small job for garbage collectors to drive around and take the trash out of the garbage bins on regular basis. After you would be done and the bin would be empty it, would change how it looks to indicate it is empty and people can take it back.

Where it's actually a few blocks tall, but indented to be in the ground. It could use some small amount of electricity whenever someone tosses something in, but they would hold more garbage. Then they would have some sort of indicator that there is garbage to collect.
You could also have separate compost bins for compostables, and maybe one day, something for recycling.
