PBR has major lighting and rendering issues when applied to brushes.
For the first bug:
As you can see in these two photos, looking at the same window, one angle has unrealistic brightness, the other renders as expected. The lighting is coming from the room pictured here, which is below and out of range of the window shown prior:
For the second bug:
I don't have images on-hand, but I can verify this is a reproducible bug so I will provide the information anyways. Gel does not render on PBR brushes. At all. It will work fine with stock materials but will fail to display on any PBR brush. Feel free to make a generic map to test this as well.
Issue Map
This is not map-specific but can be recreated via the steps below. I will however share a WIP map that has this issue nonetheless.
pmake_spc1_m01_intro.zip
You'll want these material sets so you can see the issues in-game (there should be 3):
2022_PBR.zip
You will want to put these two sets under a /p2topbr/ materials directory:tile.zipmetal.zipAdditional notes: make sure file structure matches the .vmt files given.
This should be everything you need. Anything that displays as an error or doesn't exist can be ignored as it is not part of these bugs.
To Reproduce
For the first bug:
Open & compile the map, and complete Chamber 00.
Pay close attention to the PBR glass textures in the BTS area after the chamberlock, making sure to pay attention to position, angles, etc. and look specifically for strange lighting, because this is the sign of bug 1.
For the second bug:
Force gel in the map from the console, then use the reload console command.
Give and upgrade the paintgun. Set it to any gel.
Fire gel on non-PBR textures and note that it renders as expected.
Fire gel on PBR textures and note that although functional, it does not display.
If these bugs cannot be recreated on your end then I am willing to try and figure out if there is anything else that can clarify this further.
