A lobby system where the host can choose a one or more maps play. other players queue up and then when started will play through all the levels on their own until they finish. The lobby can either be invite only, friends only, friends and friends of friends only, or public. Public allows for people to jump in any lobby. There is a live scoreboard that displays player's times if they finished. When everyone is finished it will display the scoreboard showing who won and everyone's times on the map(s) + total time. This is just a fancy way for groups of people to do racing without them manually recording times. A coop option can also exist so a group of two people race other groups (split screen should be allowed). This coop would probably be its own section so people can queue for coop or solo races. All the actually racing would be with only one or two clients so you wouldn't be actually in a server with say 10 people or however this racing system allows in a lobby.
