The top level directory is full of files from previous builds. While version control means they could be recovered easily if deleted, it might still be useful to keep them around so they are easier to find.
I suggest moving them to a new directory called something like archive or etc\archive.
The files I am thinking of are the old build files like 2012Q4 and openssl, and also the msys2_shell* files.
I'll generate a PR if that sounds like a reasonable plan.
