When using the crate creation wizard, you're able to set the barcode.
It doesn't work though, and it just uses the default generated barcode. You have to change it after the fact (which of course you can only do if you've enabled it in Preferences).
This caused a problem for me during normal usage. I had created two avatar crates with the same name, one having + added to the end. This symbol can't be included in barcodes though, so it conflicted with the first "non plus" one.
The wizard informed me of this conflict, so I changed the barcode in the wizard to something else, unaware of this issue. I then found that one of the two crates was not showing up in-game, and I later discovered that this was the reason.
