If this is true, this is a big problem. Will investigate.

It works for me perfectly, except for volume control (UAWKS was written in XP,
and the volume control model is per-application in Windows 7). I'm in W7 x64
English, which seems to account for most of the problems. I really need some
European friends to help me out with maintaining this product. Sincere
apologies, friends! :)

is there any chance to get the volume control working in Win7? at the moment, i
run my Win7 with the Original Apple Booptcamp Drivers. ok, it works but i dont
like to have any kind of apple software on my PC ;) could i give you a hand
maybe testing new betas of UAWKS?

The latest implementation of UAWKS is specific to a few media players (with
regards to volume control). Boot Camp works fairly universally. This is why
I've been working on a non-AutoHotkey-dependent implementation. I understand
your frustration (I feel it too, but this is a non-paid project, my friend :p)

this worthy project.
Donated via paypal. Small amount, but if more do the same, I hope it helps
Thanks. Keep up the good work

Thanks for all of your comments, and especially your donations! Even the
frustrated/negative comments are useful in gauging the future direction of this
project. It's true that I haven't released a stable version in quite some time,
but yes, I am a one-man team that works for free (and gladly so).
I'm still working on a new, native version of UAWKS. I made the decision to
rewrite it from AutoHotkey to C# because AHK isn't very amenable/responsive to
the problems with foreign keyboard layouts and/or multi-platform configurations.
We're quite close to having a test/alpha/beta version (the C# rewrite I've been
talking about), and I'll need all of you to try it out so that we can identify
the problem-areas. Unfortunately, I only have a few hours a week to attack
this. Donations in the past few weeks have certainly helped me accelerate that!
...and as I've been saying (especially to all of my European friends), I'm
going to need your help soon as beta-testers!

To specifically address this issue, the new implementation (forthcoming) is
already better with the fn-key than the former AHK version. I'm pretty sure
that we'll still have a lot to fix as a community.
I've not uploaded the new version mostly for lack of time--it will be posted
soon. It's also more tricky than you'd think to get keyboard hooking AND
keyboard simulation working in tandem across the spectrum of Windows XP -
Windows 7. You'd be surprised how much I've learned about windows via this
project :)

I think we all understand your hard work. There is no system today as works
better with the Apple Wireless Keyboard and a PC.
We are very grateful that someone develops a program that works when apple self
don't do that.

I'm a long time AHK user and I originally tried to get the keys to work myself
with AHK, ran into the same issues as everyone else, and so I tried EventGhost.
Got keys to work with that, but not reliably, I had to keep manually added the
HID generic plugin, which was annoying, so I went back to AHK. I didn't try to
hard the first time and it only took a couple of searches to come across your
script.
I'm on Win7 32 and after install it just doesn't seem to work, so I'm anxiously
awaiting your updated C# version.
Keep up the good work, and good luck.

Just an FYI for people who are trying to get the FN key to work in win7. In
troubleshooting I had worked my way back to the original
AutohotkeyRemoteControl.zip. When trying to run AutoHotkeyRemoteControlDLL.ahk
I got the error:
GetDeviceCount fehlgeschlagen. Errorcode: -3
Turn out that you have to have vcredist_x86.exe installed for
AutohotkeyRemoteControl.dll to function, unfortunately UAWKS does not give any
indication that required files are missing.
I now have UAWKS working on win7 32 bit.

I just installed to use a wired (USB) small aluminum keyboard under Windows 7.
I can use the pretzel key to cut & paste (yay!), but fn+delete does a backspace.
Pretzel+option+delete gives an error (taskmgr.exe)

Hello every one,
I hope this will be to help.
I had UAWKS working under my old Windows 7 64bit perfectly. Not aware of the FN
issue I had to reinstall my old system. At some point when I was fine tuning
new installation I realised there is a problem and I need to do something about
it...
After couple of hours, few installations of several visual c++ redists and
toying about in general I worked out all I needed was autohotkey (I got the
file from http://www.autohotkey.com/download/) It did the job for me.
After that, everything works nicely again.
Thanks for UAWKS, great app.

I had a problem with the EJECT key not working on
the Apple Mini wired keyboard when changing from Windows XP -> 7.
I can confirm that you have to have vcredist_x86.exe installed for
AutohotkeyRemoteControl.dll to function in Windows 7.
The file is included in the AutohotkeyRemoteControl.dll package
as mentioned above.
UAWKS is working on Windows 7 32 bit.

Windows 7 64bit also works well, just install ansi version of AutoHotKey, 32bit
version (otherwise, 32-bit AutohotkeyRemoteControl.dll required for eject and
fn key to work will not function).
