fresh install is broken #3651

Describe the bug git clone then it's unusable, I spend like 20mn every year, figuring out how to get it working

To Reproduce Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. git clone elfinder
  2. ln -s elfinder.src.html index.html
  3. still does not work
  4. must dig in various files for hours

Expected behavior access index.html and it works

Additional context it would be nice that the project be maintained. is it maintained? i am moving away atm, thank you
