Drag and drop folder upload not working on Linux client #568

I have a problem when trying to upload a folder via drag and drop on linux clients. I've noticed this occurs on the demo site elfinder.org also.

Repro:

Right click on a blank area in a folder you have permissions to write to.
Select upload files
Drag and drop a folder from nautilus into the upload area

Expected:

Folder is uploaded

Actual

In firefox I get a "could not connect to backend" error and an aborted POST to connector.php with an empty response.
In Chrome I get no error and a pending POST to connector.php which never ends.

This was tested on firefox and chrome, ubuntu linux

You use the open-dialog box to drag in files, instead of using just the dropzone without the button upload?

Yes, the upload functionality works for just files. It is folders in the dropzone that cause the problem.

Thats right, Drag & Drop with Folders dont work. Would be great to get this feature working.

I agree. Also there is a problem to drag and drop when the widget is not selected. It does see the file on top of it since "Move" is rendered from elfinder, but the drop won't happen. Any hints on how to fix this?

Today, elFinder 2.1 supported Folder uploading with "Google Chrome". You can get elFinder 2.1 (Nightly) form nao-pon/elFinder-nightly. And latest version ZIP is https://github.com/nao-pon/elFinder-nightly/raw/gh-pages/latests/elfinder-2.1.zip . Have fun!

How hard is it to make this work for firefox and other browsers?

can you make a pull request with your changes, nao-pon? I need to manually merge in my project. It will be hard for me to find the necessary changes in the whole files

Hi pythonmobile, Now, since it does not have API, no browsers other than Chrome can be made possible. When they will have API in the future, they are possible.

Hi, ChuckNorrison. The merge to "2.x" of this function is work that there are many conflicts and serious. Is it difficult to adopt 2.1 brunches in your project?
