Feature request: Probably completely out of scope, but some vignette and halation controls would be nifty #20

I only mention this mainly because they are two things that I have to open other apps for and while adding a vignette is fairly easy halation is quite a bit more difficult without the linear data. I have used Blender in the past for this but I don’t have an effective way to do it properly if I want to process the image in Saulala.

I tried saving the RAWs from dark table as an .exr, adding halation in Blender, and then processing in Saulala but that method doesn’t really work. The exr file looks different than the original RAW does in Saulala, so you can’t get the same results. Plus some tools don’t work correctly on .exr files (Tint for example). If you have any suggestions for a workflow I am happy to hear them. Halation is the only big part of film emulation that I am interested in other than grain, which looks good in Saulala.

Well, halation is 100% not happening, as Saulala does not try to emulate / simulate film.

Manual vignette control is also tricky, since it needs a whole separate UI for it to be useful (need to control shape, intensity, gradient steepness, etc. etc.)

By the way, I get my EXRs to match 99% with EXR from Darktable. Make sure all the 'picture formation' modules are off (including 'colour calibration'), and set 'white balance' module to 'Camera'. Export as Linear rec.709.
