Ive been brooding on this idea for a bit and I think I got my thoughts down.
side note We want to be as cartoonish as possible so maybe some gags and jokes.
I like the idea but am worried that a turn-based game with a single character could make early-game combat repetitive, since you'd have a limited amount of skills and it feels like it could devolve into a back-and-forth of making the same attack over and over. I suppose more broadly speaking, what would we do to ensure the player's feeling challenged in a diverse yet fair way?
Maybe we could add other characters and adopt the FF style turnbased combat entirely?
Or maybe make a top-down turnbased, like Fire Emblem or XCOM, to add an extra level of strategy?
Those suggestions also increase scope may be problematic if we want to finish this up before the deadline, assuming that yall would rather spend your time working on a different game engine for something with a larger scope. I have a hard time corresponding a level of scope to time to develop, however, so I'm curious to know your thoughts.
How would you describe the genre of this game?
How would you describe this game, using other games? (i.e. cyclic final fantasy, AFK game)
What's the primary mechanic(s) for the game?
