Pedal communication protocol? #1

Hi stuyo, I've seen the great jobs you've done on the wheel and shifter. I've been disappointed with Fanatec pedal for too long and want to make a DIY one. In order to use the pedal in Playstation, I have to connect the pedal to Wheelbase. I have discovered that the Wheelbase supports both analog and digital signals. But analog mode has only 6bit~7bit actual resolution in some Wheelbase(ddpro). That's why I'm trying to connect the Wheelbase using digital signal. Is there any information about the pedal internal protocol? Again, thanks for your great job which gives me a glimmer of hope.

Hi Mate, Thanks! I have tested only the analog signal, for the digital somebody needs to sniff it and reverse engineer same way as they did with the steering wheel. I myself am not very good at programming so am just extending existing projects.

Have only info on the analog parts as follows: I also made recently DIY hall sensor handbrake and connected to wheelbase directly. I have a CSL Pedal set home I bought to upgrade, add clutch and so on. I have the schematics, it is hall sensors, condensators and some resistors, very simple. Was planning on making complete DIY, but no time and already sold my Fanatec. With a CS DD base I use now temporary I tested the CSL pedals yesterday, added simple pot as clutch and it works like a charm. It was actually very precise as long as I used the full 270deg travel. My plan was to make loadcell with analog amplifier and connect it to wheelbase directly. As I do not have much time I think I will not manage to complete this project. But making hall sensor ones should be very easy, LC based brake should be also possible. If you manage to get full range or close to 0-5V (my handbrake has it) you will get c the maximum possible with the analog channel.

This being said I was very interested in exploring the serial protocol (you can find pinout on the Internet) and possibly achieve a working emulator, but I use only PC, do not have the developer skills needed and for me it would be waste of time to continue investigating this further.

If you need more info you can always join my Discord and find me there. Cheers!

Hi, do you have a solution?
