Thanks for reporting!
Yes, this is a known issue, fixed on master (in #184), but not yet pushed to AnkiWeb.
Sorry, I had forgotten* to make a new release (without going into too much detail, the process of uploading to AnkiWeb is slightly involved, for various reasons). I'll get on this now!
* I had been hoping to get more into the new release, it turned out that I had less time than I had hoped for, and then I forgot...
In the meantime, for 2.1.57 you can still temporarily work around the issue by using the legacy export/import, via Tools > Preferences > Editing > Import/Export, (though that is obviously annoying!).
New release (installed with auto-update from AnkiWeb) works great, thanks!
When trying to export (File>Export) on versions 2.1.55+, "CrowdAnki JSON Representation" is not an available export format. I've tried 2.1.55, 2.1.56, and 2.1.57. Same issue if choosing "Export" from the gear icon for the deck directly. I've tried deleting the add-on and reinstalling it from AnkiWeb (with appropriate restarts). CrowdAnki appears to be otherwise working since it shows CrowdAnki Import and Snapshot options in the File menu. Is this a known issue?
I am able to export with CrowdAnki by running Anki version 2.1.54.
