This plugin also predates the sublime functionality ;) So ACTUALLY, Jon copied us.
We hold the patent haha :)
I know there is some "duplicated packages" or packages that "no longer make sense" but before jumping the gun, you need to be sure that the package provides exactly the same functionality. This is not the case
It's your work to investigate that. Not ours. I'm seeing you are posting on every package with similar name or description.
If you feel you should get credit for the functionality, maybe should talk with the author, but keeping the package alive just for the sake of recognition is not a good idea since it pollutes the sublime package manager ecosystem.
It looks to me like you feel that I was criticizing the plugin with this issue. it was not my intention, but to determine if there was extra functionality and a reason for this plugin to still exist, since this is not clear anywhere.
It's legitimate to promote the plugin if it provides extra functionality, but maybe it's a good idea to state in the description that this is the case, and exactly what improvements there are..
Of course you don't have to do any of this things unless you care for the other sublime users and the health of the package community.
Read the readme, fool. If you are not going to expend valuable time trying to undertand close the tab CTRL+W and get out. Stop saying nonsense. bye
I guess you didn't understand what I was trying to say
I understand clearly, but you are doing it very wrong.
The first line of the readme:
This plugin highlights all copies of a word that's currently selected, _or, optionally, highlights all copies of a word which currently has the insertion cursor upon it._
Says ( in case you were so lazy to read the quote) "or, optionally, highlights all copies of a word which currently has the insertion cursor upon it." which is not a built-in feature. Also, has more features but I'm not going to explain nothing more to you.
Don't come here to talk about "health of the package community." when you are not capable to test a package, investigate, read a readme file and write an issue description.
Damn, I guess I missed the election this year. The one where aristidesfl was elected the Package Control sheriff.
@aristidesfl, don't you dare talk to me about polluting ecosystems. I TAKE ECOLOGY (as an elective)! :P
@titoBouzout
you are suggesting that all the people who come across your plugin should install it and figure out by themselves which features are already implemented in sublime and which ones are provided by the plugin. have you imagined all the time you would save those people if you had that clear in the readme?
It's already great that you made the plugin and shared with everyone else, and of course you have no responsibility to deal with duplicate functionality, but there is no one better then you to know and describe exactly which extra features are being provided.
all I'm saying is: neither in that line nor anywhere else in the readme is clear which features are already implemented in sublime and which ones are suplementar.
@BoundInCode no sherif, just caring :)
those people
What people are you talking about? 5802 people have installed this plugin and I don't see anyone complaining.
all the people who come across you plugin should install it and figure out by themselves
No one said that. Are you suggesting that people blindly download ever plugin then see if they don't know what it does? Using that logic means I would have over 200 plugins installed. Plugins are meant to allow people to shape ST2 to THEIR needs. If someone is looking for an enhanced word highlight experience, they can install this plugin. If they don't need any more than the default, they can ignore this plugin with no problem.

if I hadn't complained, would still have suffered from the ambiguity of the description. is your argument that only people who complain suffer from the issue?
an enhanced word highlight experience
Simply using this as description, would solve the problem
It has some additional features that don't come standard.
