After specifying the name of the file where the calendar data is to be stored and continuing I get a progress bar with the number of items being progressed being counted up suggesting that everything works fine but in the end I can not find that file anywhere. Not knowing WHERE to look for the file I searched the entire file system for my file without success.

more observations: I unticked that option which prevented the exported data to be checked. This check then failed. Using a file explorer on the phone I found the exported file in the base directory of the phone's "internal memory". However, it is 0B in size. For some reason no file located in this directory is ever shown when accessing the phone through MTP on a Ubuntu. Now, whenever launching the app it crashes immediately.

So, the issue is related to some strange behavior of the Android system itself.
