Deleted all secrets #49

What steps will reproduce the problem?

Not sure. I was in the grocery store checking my ATM PIN. I looked at it
once, then closed my G1. Then I reopened the G1, re-entered my password
at the prompt, and got an error message saying that there was an error
accessing my data. All of my passwords are gone.

Stupidly, I did not do a backup. I assume there is no way to recover the
data at this point?

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

I'm on a G1 phone with the latest version of Secrets. This happened
several days ago.

Please provide any additional information below.

Hi Thabangh,

If you are running the latest version (1.4.8), you can restore from an
auto-backup. To
restore, do the following:

- login to secrets using your master password
- popup the menu and choose Restore
- pick a restore points based on its time stamp (@<date>-<time>) and press "Yes"

Its still a good idea to backup the SD card periodically. If have to reset
your phone
to factory defaults, you will loose your secrets as well as the auto-backups.

Thanks, Roger. Unfortunately, I've been traveling for several weeks and so
didn't
get the update to 1.4.8 -- I am still on 1.4.7.

However, I do seem to have a backup available. When I do "restore," though, it
says, "Uh oh. Unable to restore your secrets. Make sure your password is the
same
as the one used to create the backup."

The password has definitely not changed. Is there anything else I can try?

I'm having the same problem here. I'm using 1.4.8, just installed from Market. I
added two secrets, locked the phone and logged in to Secrets a few times, but
at some
point I locked the phone (an ADP) and, when I logged in again, I received the
same
error as Thabangh. I tried restoring from several auto-backups, but also got
the "Uh
oh. Unable to restore your secrets. Make sure your password is the same
as the one used to create the backup." error.

A bit scary, actually :P
