STUN sever #122

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
i have been using a combination of GV+Gizmo5+Sipsorcery on a PAP2T with STUN
sever = stun01.sipphone.com:3478 and it works fine. now, i replaced Gizmo5 with
IPKall and use the same STUN server and it works fine too.

so, when Gizmo5 is actually closed down, will the current STUN server continue
to work? if not, any alternative?

thanks.

A letter from Gizmo doesn't say anything about their STUN server but it's
natural to assume that this server will go down with the other services.

There are many STUN servers around, just google for stun server list.

idont know how you guys claiming these stun servers are fine.. NONE of them
EVER worked for me.. my isp have blocked 5060 port but i was assuming stun
servers were for that reason

STUN server helps SIP client (ATA or softphone) to figure out external IP
address and replace local IP address with external. It has nothing to do with
port blocking.

Update: My setup is still working fine with Gizmo5's STUN server.

Note that Sipsorcery acts like a STUN server replacing local IPs with external.
Thus, if your ATA is registered to Sipsorcery you should be okay regardless of
STUN server.
