Simple Dialplan's Speed Dials to SIP-URIs fail #129

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Attempt to call a speed-dial SIP URI with the Simple Dial Plan
2.
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Connected to the URI. Google Voice says number not aviable for call return.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

Please provide any additional information below.

I am attempting to use speed dial to SIP URL like I always have like 266 to
CNN, but for no appearntly reason it just suddenly stopped working after
working for months and I changed nothing.

Please check and re-check the exact formatting of the line. Google has nothing
to do with sip uri dialing - that is a pure sip sorcery function. Aaron may
have also changed the format of the lines. Does CNN still work? Or are the only
failing lines ones that you've added?

Well CNN stopped working and they all stopped working, but every when I added
definitely worked and I have no added any new ones.

Okay, thank you for the update. I just got to work, but I will have to research
this in the SIP Sorcery forums to find out the new format of the SIP URI
dialing -- assuming there is a new one. Alternatively, I hope SS didn't
terminate the function to save bandwidth.

If you find something in the SS forums before I do, please post it here so I'm
up to date before I start my search. Thanks again.

An update, it appears that perhaps just podlinez.net doesn't work anymore for
SIP dialing, because I tried calling a totally different URI site, and it
worked. So maybe podlinez doesn't allow SIP URI anymore and the script figured
it can't connect so send it to Google Voice, because I end up with the Google
Voice, "This number is not available for call return".

I feel kinda silly, it turns out that's what the problem was.

Turns out podlinez.net turned into podlinez.com.

I didn't assume that, because I figured something had to change, because why
would I get a Google Voice error message calling a SIP URI, it didn't make
sense.

Oh, even better! I will make the change as soon as I can and get the sample
lines updated. Excellent! Don't feel silly at all. I believe this was the first
ever ticket that actually resulted in a change that needed to be made to our
scripts. In 18 months or so, nearly every single ticket was closed with
"Invalid" because Mike's scripts are so compact and rock solid. No one could
actually find an issue that needed to be fixed until now. So thank you very
much for using the ticketing system, and following through to tell us when you
found and fixed the problem. This is exactly why I set it up.

You are welcome. Glad I can help with a project that has made my life so much
easier, especially having CNAM vs Whitepages.com and Google Voice with
SipSorcery. I have an entire home phone with ATA that works as good as what
Verizon can give me without paying them a dime. :)
