ata phone continues to ring after gv voicemail takes it #27

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.receive call
2. gv voicemail takes it
3. phone (on ata) continues to ring

on incoming calls; phone continues to ring after google voice takes it in
voicemail;

on the console for example it shows this after i waited some time well
after voicemail completed:

"Cancelling all call legs for ForkCall app.
DialPlan 01:41:06:598 sip2: Answering client call with a response status of
200.
DialPlan 01:41:06:911 sip2: Dial command was successfully answered in 94.53s.
DialPlan 01:41:06:926 sip2: Dial plan execution completed with normal
clearing."

this is on the simple script; is there a way to have the script know that
google voice got the call in voicemail and terminate the ringing ? or do i
have a setting wrong at google voice or in my ata; i am using old sunrocket
unlocked gizmo 211 from telco;
thnx much for any help.

Hi Glen, I apologize for the long delay in replying -- been SUPER busy at work.
Anyway, there are so many hops involved in this setup, that it doesn't surprise
me
that the disconnect comments are not traversing all of the hops.

Even though Google Voice has sent the call to voicemail, its not Google Voice
that's
ringing your softphone or phone attached to your ATA. Depending on how you've
implemented the details suggested here, its either sipgate, Gizmo5, SIP Sorcery
or
some combination of two or all three of them that are causing the ringing to
continue.

Think about it, you may route sipgate (through two VOIP connections!) to SIP
Sorcery
before SIP Sorcery routes to your ATA on line 1 and as a backup, you may have
line 2
on your ATA logged directly into one of those sipgate lines or even a Gizmo5
account.
On each Google Voice call, Google is going to ring your sipgate line, which
will in
turn ring on both of your SIP Sorcery SIP Provider Binding lines and possibly
line 2
on your ATA, or if you have line 2 connected directly to Gizmo5 and configured
Gizmo5
as a forwarding phone, that's going to ring too.

We're not talking about analog signals on a copper line pushing an electrical
pulse
to ring a bell inside the phone anymore. We're talking about milliseconds to
seconds
for the disconnect command to reach all of the different services that could be
causing a phone to ring -- or not reach them at all if it comes in via UDP.

Yes, ringing phones may continue to ring after calls get routed to voicemail.
No, I'm
sorry, but I really don't have a suggestion on how to correct that.. I'm only
full of
theories as to why it may be happening. Sorry!

I need help with step 4 please. I have an EVO and I have set up the sipgate and
sipsorcery online with my lap top, but I have no idea what to do next and
please try not to throw too much lingo at me if possible- just a simple girl
trying to save money while out of the country!

Thank you, Mishka. Did you download sipdroid from the android market and
install it? Glen, you may wish to unstar this issue so you don't get a bunch of
updates.
