Sound problems on the xlite side (the same settings worked eariler) #39

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

I have used this set up (GV, sipgate, sipsocery and xlite) to successfully
make and receive calls. I tried to allow one of my colleagues overseas to
use my settings to make calls on this existing set up that worked.

She is able to make calls to US numbers from xlite and I can call my google
number to get her. But when we connect (either inbound or outbound) I can
hear her but she cannot hear my end.

Has anyone heard of this before.

Any thoughts on what could be the cause?

Thanks.

Typically these problems are related to NAT or to incompatible codecs.

I just walked a new person through this setup this weekend, and she couldn't
hear the
other end. It turned out X-Lite was messing with her volume slider.

@ccriii, I'm looking to close some tickets that are just hanging open. Have you
made
any progress with this? Are you still experiencing the issues? Something else
that
probably helped fix audio issues was the port numbering. In X-Lite, drop down
the
menu and go into SIP Accounts. In the SIP Accounts window, click Properties on
the
right. In the Properties window, click the Topology tab. Then click Enable ICE
and
Manually specify range. I run 5801 and 5810 in the fields to the right of
"Manually
specify range".

Could you give that a shot and update the ticket to let us know how you're
doing?

Thanks!

Everything is working fine now.

I haven't had any problems with hearing the other person and I have set it up on
multiple computers.

There is what I think is a separate issue that has to do with sound quality on
the
call. But I don't know if that can be improved or not.

Are there any existing threads that address that or things you may be able to
recommend?

If not, things are working well enough for me to be happy. This last thing is
a very
minor complaint. Particularly considering the price.

Thanks for updating so quickly, I appreciate it. As for the sound issues, I
would
hold out and wait to see what Google does with Gizmo5. Once the integration is
completed, I'm sure it's going to sound better than any hack we can string
together
to make GV feel like a SIP provider. Until then, no, I haven't been working any
sound
quality issues. Just the basic steps to get connectivity and make and receive
calls
(with any kind of sound).

Thanks again, and good luck.
