Newbie - sipgate->sipsorcery->sipdroid or X-Lite (Registration error:408 request timeout) #57

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
-What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Trying to connect to my sipsorcery account with X-Lite or sipdroid.

-What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Want to be able to connect.

-What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
sipsorcery.com website. Client is X-Lite on Windows 7 or sipdroid on Droid.

-Please provide any additional information below.

I am trying to get my X-Lite software or sipdroid (Droid phone) to connect to
my sipsorcery/sipgate accounts. I have followed the instructions "Unlimited
Free Calling With Google Voice"
http://docs.google.com/Doc?docid=0Ae8glDUXDsh9ZGR2eG43cjRfMzNkOTM4ZjNjeA&hl=en
but I get stuck in section 8, step 4.

For example, X-Lite gives me the error "Registration error: 408 - Request
Timeout". I have disabled all firewalls (Windows 7) and removed my Linksys
Router from the equation and still get the same error. Sipdroid can't connect
either but doesn't give any specific error.

I am a newbie with this so if I am posting to the wrong place or you need more
information, please let me know. Thanks!

Have you checked if SIP port is open? Go to command prompt (Start / Run / cmd
<Enter> and try this:

telnet sipsorcery.com 5060

You should be able to connect to the server and see blank screen. You also
should be getting some "brick" chars in response to <Enter> key.

If this doesn't happen, something is still blocking your port.

Oh... if you're not familiar with telnet, you need to press Ctrl-] and then type

quit

@mtelis: telnet is not installed by default in Win7.

@OP: Try making sure you're using the most recent Beta of X-Lite (version 4),
since version 3 doesn't work well in Win 7.

But since you indicate that it's not working in either X-Lite or sipdroid,
there's probably something else going on. Recheck that you've set up
everything correctly. Take a look at section 14 of the instructions on the
document you linked to, which gives screenshots of the proper setup in
SIPSorcery.

Well, there is Putty, a free Telnet/SSH client:

Sorry, I will try to look at it again tonight. I guess the only thing useful I
can do is post some screenshots of my sipsorcery account and my X-Lite params.

I had no problems telnetting to sipsorcery.com 5060

All,

Please see screenshots of my situation at http://mortperformance.com/sip.html
Telnet to sipsorcery.com 5060 seems to work fine. Any ideas?
Thanks!

Ashley I just walked another person through a series of quirks in the various
systems, and the last step she needed to perform was create a new SIP Sorcery
account, and fully loaded it up with her two sets of sipgate credentials and
the SimpleDialPlan.

I've also had 403 Forbidden when I specified my auth username but didn't
exactly match the case as I had specified it when I created my account. I just
took a quick look at your SS panel again and saw that you have all lowers. I
would try deleting and recreating the SIP Sorcery account.

As far as I can see, you're getting registration error 403, not 408. 403 means
that you provided incorrect credentials (SIP account name / password).

Go to Sipsorcery portal / SIP accounts, click on your SIP account and you'll
see its name and password. Make sure they are the same you enter on X-Like SIP
account configuration page.

I got 403 because I was trying every possible password and domain (sipgate and
sipsorcery). I deleted and recreated my sipsorcery account but still can't log
in to sipsorcery from X-Lite.

Interestingly, if I change X-Lite to use all my sipgate.com info, I log in and
can call X-Lite from my cell phone. Does that help or indicate anything?

Note, I still get 408 when I try anything from X-Lite going to sipsorcery.com

Are you using sipsorcery.com as your domain and sip1.sipsorcery.com as your
proxy or sip1.sipsorcery.com for both? Your login domain should be
sipsorcery.com and your proxy should be sip1.sipsorcery.com. The fact that
you're able to log into sipgate means that you understand the layout of where
to place the username and where to place the domain. I'm wondering if you have
entered a proxy for sipgate and are not clearing that out when switching back
to SIP Sorcery.

403 really means that the username, password, auth username, domain, and proxy
are not aligned with one another.

Ah ok, chancing my proxy in X-Lite to sip1.sipsorcery.com fixed it. I had been
using sipsorcery.com for fields like in the screenshots.
